Is there anything quite as nice as the smell of French toast to wake up to on an autumn morning? Here’s my favourite recipe!
1 tsp vanilla essence
2 pieces of bread
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp caster sugar
100g icing sugar
First things first, whisk the eggs, milk and vanilla essence together.
While the butter is melting in a griddle pan or frying pan, soak the bread in the egg mixture until it’s pretty soggy and floppy.
When the butter is beginning to foam, add the bread, and then pour in the remaining egg mixture. It’s going to be messy, but its so worth it! Flip the bread after a minute or so, and cook on the other side for another minute or so.
When cooked, sprinkle the French toast with the sugars, and whatever else you like – cinnamon, golden syrup, maple syrup, strawberries, jam……
